Rides and Technology Teachers' Notes
Design and Technology
Disneyland Paris offers countless opportunities for pupils to discover how practical and technological skills combine with creative thinking.
By using the Rides and Technology Workbook in the Resort, students will be offered opportunities to explore essential skills and processes in design and technology. Through the Workbook's "Ride Audio Systems Project" and "Working together Project" students can learn about:
- Design and making
- Aesthetic and environmental implications of design
- The link between the principles of good design, existing solutions and technological knowledge
- Exploring ideas, materials, technologies and techniques
Whilst in the Resort, students can also investigate:
- The use of materials, techniques and skills that add attention to detail in the rides in the Resort i.e. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith on board stereo; the theming on Space Mountain: Mission 2 carriages; the weathering on the rocks around Big Thunder Mountain
- The evolution of moving pictures shown through the displays in the Art of Disney Animation® - students can even create their own works of art
- How the design and technology behind the movies has changed over the years by visiting CinéMagique
